Welcome to ICNMTA 2006!

Welcome to the website of the 10th International
Conference on Nuclear Microprobe Technology and Applications.
The conference is organized by the Centre for Ion Beam
Applications (CIBA), Physics Department, National University
of Singapore, Singapore, and will be held in the summer of
2006 (9-14 July).
Singapore, a beautiful and lush tropical island, has
undergone a stunning transformation during the past decades,
moving from the third world to the first. Singapore is now a
major player in high tech industry, and is setting up to
become a global hub for the life sciences as well.
Nuclear microprobes are extremely powerful analytical
tools, being applied to a wide range of scientific problems.
Most of the well known ion beam analytical techniques can be
used as microscopies if MeV ion beams are focused to spot
sizes in the micro/nano meter range. In addition to the
development of new ways to utilize these probes as analytical
tools, strong progress has been made in the area of material
modification very recently.
The ICNMTA2006 is an opportunity for workers in the
field to introduce the latest developments in micro-beam
technology, regarding both the hardware (lenses, detectors,
DAQ systems etc ) and the software (data acquisition, data
analysis, beam contol, etc) Furthermore, a wide range of
applications micro-beams will be presented.
On Wednesday, July 12th a specialized workshop (2nd
International Workshop on Proton Beam Writing) will be held at
the conference venue.
